Mt. Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest Recreation Fee Proposal

Last fall, the Mt. Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest solicited public feedback on proposed changes to recreation fees under the Federal Lands Recreation Enhancement Act (FLREA). The proposed changes include the addition of new fees at multiple sites, including 3 campgrounds and 17 day-use sites.

The public comment period ended on October 22, 2022.

Under the proposal, a day-use fee of $5 (or Northwest Forest Pass) would be required at the day-use sites. A camping fee would implement at the three campgrounds. Detailed information on the full proposal can be find at [press release and Interactive Mapping tool). During the public engagement period (August 18 – October 22, 2022), the Mt. Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest received roughly 40 comments from the public. At this time, no additional modifications have been proposed.

The fee proposal will not be advanced for approval until it can be evaluated by a Resource Advisory Committee (RAC), which is not currently available for the entire forest.  Based on public feedback, the original Recreation Fee Proposal remains the same; however, comments can still be submitted and modifications can still be made if necessary.  Although the comment period has passed, if you would like to receive updates when available, please email us at sm.fs.mbsfeecomm@usda.gov. Please note this email account is not regularly monitored.

The proposed fee changes will help improve and maintain recreation facilities, public lands and help create new opportunities!
