Kisatchie Recreation Sites Status Update

Kisatchie Recreation Site Status Update as of June 26, 2024:

• The Forest is open to hunting. Visit our hunting page for information and guidelines.
• Dispersed camping (camping outside a designated campground area) is available throughout the Forest for those who enjoy primitive camping. 
• There are NO cabins for rent on the Kisatchie. 
• NO reservations are required for campsites - first come, first served. The Beaver Dam Campground located on the Caney Ranger District near Minden, LA, is the only facility accepting reservations. You may visit recreation.gov. for more info. 
• The Old LSU Walking Trail located next to the Supervisor's Office/Alexandria Forestry Center, 2500 Shreveport Hwy, in Pineville, is OPEN.
• OHV Trail Status may be accessed by calling the OHV Hotline 866-830-6467. OHV Trails may be closed to motorized use after excessive rainfall. Typically, if a trail is open as of 1:00 p.m. on Friday afternoon, it will remain open through the weekend. However, it is always best to call the OHV Hotline or the nearest District Office to confirm the trail is open before going out to the trail.

Calcasieu Ranger District / Evangeline Unit, Rapides Parish (318-793-9427)

• All Kincaid Boat Launches (The East Boat Launch will be temporarily closed from October 22 at 4:30 p.m. to October 27, 4:30 p.m. for the Rapides Parish Forestry Awareness Week. Please use the West Boat Launch instead.)
