About the Library

The Institute Library was founded in 1939, as a Research Station Library within the newly established Tropical Forest Experiment Station, now the International Institute of Tropical Forestry. In 2007, it was incorporated into the National Forest Service Library (NFSL) Program. It is now one of two specialized libraries within the NFSL, the other being the Forest Products Laboratory Library in Madison, WI.

Scope

Our information resources cover topics related to tropical forestry in Puerto Rico, and to neotropical forests. They also encompass the natural resources field as it pertains to tropical forests in general and Puerto Rico’s ecosystems in particular.

Our services are available to USDA US Forest Service personnel and cooperators, other researchers and the general public. These services include: Literature Search, Interlibrary loans (ILL), Document Delivery, Reference, and IITF publications, among others.
