Las Vegas – Daily updates on the progress of the USDA Forest Service's Cold Creek Emergency Wild Horse Gather can be found at:

https://www.fs.usda.gov/detail/htnf/home/?cid=FSEPRD578852.

Photographs, videos, adoption details, and Forest Service Wild Horse and Burro Program information can also be found on the 2018 Cold Creek Emergency Wild Horse Gather website.

In addition, the public is reminded to refrain from recreating on National Forest System lands near the Cold Creek area. Areas where wild horses are being gathered are off limits for the duration of the operation. Many of the horses are malnourished and in poor condition and more human interaction increases the chances of the horses being spooked and injured.

Due to extreme drought conditions and lack of forage, the Forest Service is gathering and providing emergency care for up to 200 wild horses in the Cold Creek area of Wheeler Pass Joint Management Area, about 30 miles northwest of Las Vegas.
