Grand Junction, Colorado, May 13, 2024 — The Grand Mesa, Uncompahgre and Gunnison (GMUG) National Forests’ Grand Valley Ranger District regrets to announce the Grand Mesa Visitor Center will remain closed for the upcoming season due to budgetary and personnel constraints. While this decision was not made lightly, ensuring the continued operation and maintenance of essential facilities and services within the Grand Valley Ranger District is necessary.

Despite the closure of the Visitor Center, visitors can still enjoy many recreational opportunities on the Grand Mesa. Restrooms at the Grand Mesa Visitor Center will remain open for public use. Additionally, information sandwich boards will be strategically placed to provide visitors with essential information about the area’s attractions, trails and safety guidelines.

The Wi-Fi network will continue to be available within the vicinity of the Visitor Center, allowing visitors to stay connected and access important online resources during their visit.

“We appreciate the understanding and cooperation of forest visitors during this closure,” said Bill Edwards, Grand Valley District Ranger. “Information and resources are still available online or by calling our Ranger District office. We encourage recreators to plan their trip in advance and Know Before They Go.”
