Driving Directions to the Main Entrance to the Forest on Road PR 191 North in Rio Grande:

From the Airport/San Juan:

  • Enter the Román Baldorioty de Castro highway (PR-26) toward the east.
  • The highway will merge into highway PR-66 (toll road).
  • Continue on PR-66 until it ends and turn right onto PR-3 East.
  • Stay on PR-3 for approximately 6.3 km.
  • After entering Rio Grande, you will turn right at the light onto Calle Principal (PR-955).
  • Take your first left onto PR-191 to continue to the forest.
  • Continue on 191 up the mountain until you reach the entrance sign for El Yunque National Forest.

Driving Direction to the South Entrance of the Forest on Road 191 South in Naguabo:

Please note that there was a landslide in the 1970’s that permanently disconnected the two parts of road 191.  To reach the southern side, you must drive all the way around the forest.

Driving directions from the Fajardo area:

  • Continue on Route 3 east and continue on to Highway 53 (toll road)
  • Take the exit for Route 31 west (exit #22 for Rio Blanco).
  • Follow Route 31 to Route 191.

Driving Directions to the Main Entrance to the El Verde 186 area in Rio Grande:

From the Airport/San Juan:

  • Enter the Román Baldorioty de Castro highway (PR-26) toward the east.
  • The highway will merge into highway PR-66 (toll road).
  • Continue on PR-66 until it ends and turn right onto PR-3 East.
  • Take your 1st right onto Road 186 at El Verde and continue this road.

Direcciones para llegar a la entrada principal al bosque en Road PR 191 North en Rio Grande:

Desde el aeropuerto / San Juan:

  • Ingrese a la carretera Román Baldorioty de Castro (PR-26) hacia el este.
  • La carretera se unirá con la carretera PR-66 (carretera de peaje).
  • Continúe por la PR-66 hasta que termine y sigue a la derecha en la PR-3 Este.
  • Manténgase en la PR-3 durante aproximadamente 6.3 km.
  • Después de ingresar a Río Grande, siga a la derecha en la Calle Principal (PR-955).
  • Tome la primera a la izquierda en la PR-191 para continuar hacia el bosque.
  • Continúe por 191 hasta la montaña hasta llegar a la señal de entrada al Bosque Nacional El Yunque.

Dirección de manejo hacia la entrada sur del bosque en la carretera 191 sur en Naguabo:

Por favor Notar: Hubo un deslizamiento de tierra en la década de 1970 que desconectó permanentemente las dos partes de la carretera 191. Para llegar al lado sur, debe conducir todo el camino alrededor del bosque.

  • Direcciones de manejo desde el área de Fajardo:
  • Continúe por la ruta 3 hacia el este y continúe hasta la autopista 53 (carretera de peaje).
  • Tome la salida de la Ruta 31 oeste (salida # 22 para Río Blanco).
  • Siga la ruta 31 a la ruta 191.
