Forest Stewards Youth Corps Hiring for Fall Fire and Fuels Successful Candidates Will Work on National Forests, Jemez Pueblo

ALBUQUERQUE, NM – June 25, 2024 –The Cibola National Forest & National Grasslands (NF&NGs) is sharing employment and job training opportunities for young adults with the Forest Stewards Youth Corps.   

The Forest Stewards Youth Corps Summer Program is now hiring Crew Members and Crew Leaders with Mountainair and Espanola US Forest Service Districts, and Jemez Pueblo Natural Resource Department! Crews gain wildland firefighting training and complete wildfire, prescribed burning, and natural resource management projects. Spend your fall outside while gaining valuable experience and making a difference in your community!   

• The 12-week program runs from August 19th through November 8th with the possibility of extension. 

• Crew Members earn $17.00 an hour. 

• Crew Leaders earn $19.00 an hour.  

• Includes Paid Holidays and Sick Leave.  

• All participants gain all basic wildland fire certifications and S-212 chainsaw certification needed to get a job as wildland firefighter.  

• Housing available at Mountainair Ranger Station.
