Overview

Located four hours from Phoenix and 3 ½ hours from Albuquerque, NM the Springerville District is still an undiscovered gem of the southwest. The Springerville Ranger District Office is located in the town of Springerville in East Central Arizona on U.S.60 and State Highways 180/191. 

Area Description

The Springerville Ranger District Office is located in the town of Springerville in East Central Arizona on U.S.60 and State Highways 180/191.  The Springerville Ranger District is a land of sweeping meadows, stands of trees, shimmering lakes and endless vistas.  Finding a great scenic drive is as easy as following any road you happen to choose.  Elevations on the district range from 6975 ft. to 11,500 ft resulting in diverse climate and vegetation types which include pinyon-juniper, ponderosa pine, and mixed conifer. 

Attractions

The second highest mountain in Arizona, Mount Baldy overlooks the District. The district provides some of the best wildlife habitats in Arizona and is known for its world-class elk herds. Outdoor recreation opportunities on the district include fishing, hiking hunting, mountain biking, OHV riding, and cross-country skiing.
