General Information

  • The Academy will be on weekends (Friday 6:00 p.m. - Sunday 6:00 p.m.)
  • 4 consecutive weekends during Spring (February to May)
  • 200+ hours of specialized wildland firefighter training
  • Educational classroom learning and physical training
  • Graduates will meet/exceed entry-level wildland firefighter requirements

Interagency Participants

This academy is an interagency academy with participants from other various fire agencies. 

Academy usually has 50 Explorer Cadets from the following agencies:

  • USDA Forest Service FIRE (Post 99, POST 100 and Post 101)
  • Kern County Fire Dept.
  • Ventura County Fire Dept.
  • Los Angeles Fire Dept.
  • Oxnard Fire Dept.
  • Pasadena Fire Dept.
  • Chula Vista Fire Dept.
