Recreation sites at Echo Amphitheater are currently closed. This includes the campground, picnic area and trail.
Recreation staff closed the facilities on May 13 to make way for a second round of construction to address deferred maintenance and make improvements. The closure is expected to last six months.
The following will be addressed and improved:
One new potable fill water station for day-use and overnight visitors
Electric hookups for each campsite
Campground berms, ditches and gutters to mitigate flooding
Road surface improvements to campground loop and parking spaces
Installation of a retaining wall and gravel drainage pad around picnic shelters for erosion control
Informational kiosk replacement
Campsite fire rings and picnic tables replacement
Split rail trail fencing in key spots to keep hikers on the correct path
Last year during the first round of construction, a contractor replaced two aging restrooms.
The improvements are funded by the Legacy Restoration Fund, which was established by the Great American Outdoors Act and is funding priority deferred maintenance projects on federal lands.
