Snowplay

Snow Play is allowed on National Forest lands anywhere along highways and roads as long as parking is not restricted. Public is advised to park completely out of the lane of traffic. 

Sno-Parks

There are three California Sno-Parks on Highway 4 and one on Highway 108. A single day permit costs $15.00 and is good for the date issued. A season permit costs $40.00 and can be used at any Sno-Park on the Stanislaus National Forest during the entire winter season. Sno-Parks are administered by the Off-Highway Motor Vehicle Recreation (OHMVR) Division of California State Parks.

Please Note: Plan Ahead! Sno-Park Passes for the Highway 108 Sno-Park are available online ONLY. 

  • Lake Alpine Sno-Park-Located at the winter closure gate on Highway 4.
  • Spicer Sno-Park- Located on the south side of Highway 4 at Spicer Road.
  • Round Valley Sno-Park- Left on Highway 207 (the entrance to Bear Valley Mountain).
  • Highway 108 Sno-Park-Located at the winter closure gate on Highway 108, east of Strawberry.
