Description:
Abstract:
The watershed_huc4 dataset describes subbasin delineations on the Nez Perce National Forest. The delineations were completed in the early 1980s, well before the national inter-agency protocol for watershed delineations was developed. The delineations in this dataset are not consistent with the inter-agency protocol in three major ways: subwatersheds are smaller than allowed in the current protocol, subwatersheds and watersheds are often cut off at the forest boundary and do not include the parts of the watersheds below the forest boundary, and rivers were often used as boundaries for watershed boundaries.
Purpose:
The watershed dataset was developed to represent the watersheds used on the Nez Perce National Forest as units to assess watershed condition, model sediment yield, and for other assessment needs and to allow spatial analysis of these watersheds.
