The Lolo National Forest is located in west central Montana and encompasses two million acres. We have lots of recreation opportunities such as camping, water sports, and hiking. Missoula Ranger District Recreation Event Open Season to Start Nov. 1 

The Missoula Ranger District open season for recreation event proposals will run from November 1, 2009 through January 15, 2010. During that time, interested individuals or groups are invited to submit proposals for permits to hold recreation events on the Missoula Ranger District in 2010. A Recreation Event Special Use Permit is required for events that charge a fee for participation, have paid staff, or include the promotion of commercial products or activities. Outfitter and guide services are not included in the Recreation Event permitting process. Please view this news release for details.
