Lower Little Truckee Campground is situated on the banks of the Little Truckee River, at an elevation of 6,100 feet.  A forest of lodgepole pine, aspen and juniper trees cover the area, offering partial shade.  A few sites overlook the river.  Fishing for rainbow and brown trout is a popular activity.  The surrounding area offers hiking and biking trails. This campground is maintained and operated by the Sierraville Ranger District of the Tahoe National Forest.

Restrictions: Bears frequent the area; we recommend keeping food in an approved bear container or hiding all food items completely out of sight as in the trunk of a car.  Off-road vehicle use is prohibited within the campground.  Fire restrictions may be imposed at any time due to hot, dry weather conditions, at which time campfires and charcoal fires may not be allowed.  Camping outside designated campsites is prohibited in this area.

Fishing pressure is heavy in areas with easy access on the Little Truckee River.  Where access is more difficult, large rainbow and a few browns have been reported.  California Fish and Wildlife stock catchable sized fish near campgrounds along State Highway 89.
