Willow Creek Campground

Willow Creek Campground provides a quiet, peaceful area in the pines.

Willow Creek is located approximately 55 miles from the town of Reserve. Willow Creek is a very beautiful campground nestled in the canyon under tall pines. The camp sites run along both sides of the stream.

At a Glance

Operational Hours: NM 159 has extremely difficult driving conditions from milepost 12, just past the town of Mogollon to mile marker 17. High clearance, 4-wheel drive vehicles are strongly recommended. An alternate route is south from Reserve, via FR 141 and south on FR 28. This is an unpaved, improved two-track road.
Reservations: First-come, first serve. All campgrounds on the Gila National Forest have a 14-day stay limit.

Willow Creek Campground is located 55 miles SE of Reserve via FR141, SR 28.


General Notes:

All but the fourth campsite are open and available on a first come, first serve basis. This campground is for tent camping only. The turn-around has been washed out, so no RVs are allowed. 

There is no trash service, so you must pack out your garbage.

All camping on the Gila National Forest is restricted to a 14-day stay.

River and Stream Fishing

NM Game and Fish stocks Willow Creek with trout two to three times a year. Water has been rather low in the last few years.

Viewing Wildlife

The campground is marked #17 on the Southwestern NM Birding Trail Guide. Willow Creek offers many high-elevation species, including Band-tailed Pigeon, Red-naped Sapsucker, Olive-sided Flycatcher and MacGillivray's Warbler.
