Chequamegon Area Mountain Bike Association - Namakagon Cluster
This is a very popular mountain bike trail system. You can access the Namekagon cluster of the CAMBA trail system from the Rock Lake Trail. There are signs along the trails for easy navigation. Trails in this cluster managed by the Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest include:
- Rock Lake National Recreation Trail
- Namekagon Trail
The trails beginning at Rock Lake are predominately single track mountain bike trails. The trails traverse steep, difficult terrain, that is for intermediate to expert riding ability. While biking, you can view the many small lakes and scenery of the Rock Lake area.
Trailhead Fees - Rock Lake National Recreation Trail
There is a $5 day use pass for this recreation site. The Forest also has an annual pass available for $30.
Partnership with the Chequamegon Area Mountain Bike Association
The Chequamegon Area Mountain Bike Association (CAMBA) is a non-profit organization whose mission is to support mountain bike advocacy, education, sustainable trail development and tourism in the Chequamegon Area in partnership with the USDA Forest Service, local governments and private landowners.
CAMBA is responsible for the developing and managing a regional mountain bike trail system of more than 300 miles in northern Sawyer and southern Bayfield counties of Wisconsin. Trails are based in the towns of Cable, Delta, Drummond, Hayward, Namakagon and Seeley. Trails are located in national and county forests and some private land.
The Namekagon Trail offers great opportunities for wildlife viewing in summer and classic-technique cross-country skiing in winter.
The Rock Lake National Recreation Trail is managed as a classic style cross-country ski trail.
