Glacier Expedition Page 1

Greetings Explorers!

The U.S. Forest Service needs your help unlocking the secrets of the glacier! Bring this expedition on your visit to the Mendenhall Glacier Visitor Center and answer the questions at each stop.  Before you leave the visitor center, show your work to a ranger and become a member of the Glacier Expedition Club. Below you will find the 2-page expedition and an answer key for the ‘Take the Mendenhall home!’ portion.

No printer at home? No worries, just ask a ranger when you arrive for a copy of the expedition!

Tongass Junior Ranger Booklets

The Tongass National Forest has two Junior Ranger Programs, one specifically for Mendenhall Glacier Visitor Center and one for the entire Tongass National Forest.

Both Junior Ranger programs require you to be physically present on the Forest. Certificates and badges cannot be awarded without first obtaining a Ranger signature in the booklet on site.  Booklets completed without this signature cannot be processed.

Please do not mail in your packet to the Tongass- we want to make sure your experience on the Forest is authentic.

Those wishing to receive your Tongass National Junior Ranger booklet before arriving on the Forest can either download the booklet online or may submit a request through the Tongass Webmaster. But remember, in order to receive your Junior Ranger certificate and badge you must have a ranger review your completed booklet. Please note, Mendenhall Glacier's Junior Ranger booklets are ONLY available at the Mendenhall Glacier Visitor Center.

If you're looking for the Junior Forest Ranger booklet please contact us and we'll send you a free copy or you may download a PDF version from the JFR Clubhouse page.
