Wildland Fire Apprentice Program

The Wildland Fire Apprentice Program is a national program designed to develop knowledge and basic skills necessary to work as a wildland firefighter.

Forest Service units may choose to fill Wildland Fire Apprentice positions in lieu of Senior Firefighter positions (Engine, Handcrew, Helitack). You are highly encouraged to reach out to the specific contact for each forest you are interested in for additional information on specific location and modules with vacant positions.
