Abstract:

The Fire History polygon coverage was created originally by the Nez Perce National Forest to describe the spatial location and characteristics of wildfires on or near the Nez Perce portion of the Nez Perce-ClearwaterNational Forests. Fire polygons can overlap. Source attributes for the wildfires were drawn from the fire record books of the Nez Perce National Forest from 1932 - 2003 and the Kansas City FAST database for 2003 through 2013. Thus, all wildfires prior to 1932 do not have any attribute information associated with the spatial graphic.

Purpose:

This information is intended for cartographic use and spatial analysis.

Fire history polygons were drawn based upon existing fire reports and records of the Nez Perce National Forest. Source attributes for the wildfires were drawn from the fire record books of the Nez Perce National Forest from 1932 - 2003 and the Kansas City FAST database from 1970 - 2006. Thus, all wildfires prior to 1932 do not have any attribute information associated with the spatial graphic. Fire History polygons for 2002 through 2008 came from existing layers created to aid in the suppression planning process. July 2003: Table updated to GIS data dictionary standards and 2002 fires added to layer and attribute table
