The Forest is Calling

Explore the wonders of Pennsylvania's only national forest.

About the Allegheny

Welcome to the Allegheny National Forest

Established in 1923, the Allegheny National Forest is comprised of over half a million acres in the northwest corner of Pennsylvania.

Over 100 years ago, the USDA Forest Service brought new concepts in forest management to the Allegheny Plateau. The slogan, “Land of Many Uses”, captures our vision of a healthy, vigorous, working forest. Sustainable management has provided timber and wood products, watershed protection, access to underground minerals, ties to cultural history, a diversity of wildlife habitats, and outstanding outdoor recreation opportunities for present and future generations to enjoy.

Orders of the Forest Supervisor

As a visitor to the National Forest, you are asked to follow certain rules designed to protect the Forest and provide public safety for visitors.
